ENID, Okla. — Xpress Wellness Urgent Care began with an idea and a blank sheet of paper.
“Three years later we have 10 urgent care clinics and over 100 employees,” Xpress Wellness President Brian Hayden said. “I just think that’s a good small business story.”
Four partners own Xpress Wellness Urgent Care, which is a family-owned business, he said.
“We essentially formed our partnership, and created Xpress Wellness and opened our first clinic in March 2014, which was in Enid,” Hayden said.
Today, there are nine clinics in Oklahoma and one in Kansas.
“We still plan to continue to grow. The space that we’re in, we refer to it as on-demand health care, so we see ourselves continuing to build and develop more urgent care centers as well as getting into the field of telemedicine, where we can offer virtual health care visits,” he said.
Urgent care facilities are not required to have national accreditation, Hayden said.
“However, it was important to us to go down that path,” he said. “We pursued that and recently were awarded national accreditation through the Urgent Care Association of America. We’re the first urgent care entity in the state of Kansas as well as the state of Oklahoma to have that national accreditation from Urgent Care Association of America.”
One of the aspects that set the clinics apart is quality.
“All of our centers are ground-up construction, all new buildings. You see some urgent care centers go in and do a rehab on a building, an existing building, or maybe they go into a shopping center,” Hayden said. “When a patient comes to see us, one of the first things we hear from them is just how nice and clean the place is.”
Another aspect is the patient experience.
“We have a high degree of customer focus for patients. We try to have an environment that is friendly and compassionate all the way through. We also focus on striving to ensure that we’re providing quality health care services,” he said.
The facilities offer urgent care walk-in; employer services for physicals, drug screens and workers’ compensation injuries; some primary care services; and a plan to offer telemedicine.

The health care environment is changing and it is becoming more and more important for patients to understand their treatment options. Urgent Care is a convenient and viable option for many medical conditions. Urgent care fills the gap between primary care and hospital emergency rooms, offering increased convenience and cost savings. Urgent Care centers provide patients with walk-in, extended-hour medical attention with licensed providers for a large scope of medical conditions.

After Arby’s moved to their new location, many questioned what would happen to the old building.
On Friday morning, work crews were knocking down the old building to make room for Xpress Wellness Urgent Care Center.
Kay Perry of Chickasha Community Development said the company has picked up building permits and is looking to make the building size of approximately 3,850 square feet.
According to Brian Hayden, president of Xpress Wellness Urgent Care Center, this will be the ninth location in the state of Oklahoma and is looking to help Grady County and the citizens of Chickasha.
“We hope to have a good response form Chickasha and the community,” Hayden said. “We will have online registration or they can walk into the center with no appointment necessary.”

Hayden believes Chickasha is a prime spot for their Urgent Care Center after doing some research and pulling some data to help make the decision of coming to Chickasha.
The new clinic will have five exam rooms and a procedure room and will be open seven days a week and the target date of opening is currently set for the Summer of 2016 according to Hayden.
When Xpress Wellness Urgent Care Center opens, their hours will be Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and open on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Xpress Wellness Urgent Care will open its doors for business today. The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1-7 p.m. on Sunday and is located at 6744 NW Cache Road.
Xpress Wellness will offer services for acute type situations, such as strains, sprains, flus, colds and allergies, along with occupational medicine, sports physicals, drug testing, breath alcohol testing and workers compensation. There will be a full-time physician and nurse practitioner onsite.
Scott Williams, chief medical officer, and Brian Hayden, president, of Xpress Wellness have opened clinics in Enid, Elk City, Woodward, Weatherford, Shawnee, Muskogee and Sapulpa. Lawton's Xpress Wellness is the eighth clinic Williams and Hayden have opened in the last year and a half.
"We've done six in the last 11 months," Hayden said. "They're all like little children to us."
Williams and Hayden wanted to open Xpress Wellness because of the new changes in health care and to increase people's accessibility and availability to services. Xpress Wellness will take most all insurances including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Sooner Care and Tri Care.
When scoping out the next place to establish the next Xpress Wellness, Williams and Hayden liked the Lawton area and thought the clinic could benefit the city.
"It's a big community, and we just felt like there was an opportunity to be a service and a convenience to the folks in the Lawton area," Hayden said.
ENID, Okla. — The urgent care clinics in Enid fill a special role between emergency rooms and primary care doctors.
At Xpress Wellness, President Brian Hayden said his facility is ready for patients in need of care for acute conditions.
“They may have difficulty reaching their primary physician. It might be a non-emergency situation that’s not really needed in the emergency room,” he said. “It’s walk-in care at the time you need it.”
What an urgent care doesn’t do is treat life-threatening emergencies or conditions that require long-term care.
“We handle what I would call acute care situations, like strains, sprains, lacerations, cold and flu. We’re not there for chronic case management, like diabetes and hypertension. That’s for their primary care physicians,” Hayden said.
At Xpress, like other urgent care clinics, medical professionals are staffed seven days per week and have extended hours outside the regular business day.
