Xpress Wellness Urgent Care Announces Altus, Oklahoma Location

Xpress Wellness Urgent Care is proud to announce its expansion of world-class urgent care centers to the Altus, OK community. The new urgent care center will be located at 416 N Main and expects to begin seeing patients in Spring 2019. Liberal will be the tenth Oklahoma location for Xpress Wellness as part of its continued effort to increase access to high quality medical care in Kansas and Oklahoma communities.

Xpress Wellness offers convenient access to urgent care and occupational medicine services for non-life threatening conditions on a walk-in basis without the need for an appointment. Xpress Wellness clinics are open seven days per week, allowing patients to enjoy convenient evening and weekend access to healthcare. Staff members at Xpress Wellness are trained to deliver high quality care in the most time-efficient manner for the patient. In addition, Xpress Wellness focuses on providing a best in class patient experience, convenient check-in options, and reduced wait times. The online check-in feature is accessible through the company’s website XpressWellnessUrgentCare.com or can be accessed by downloading the Xpress Wellness app to any smartphone.

Xpress Wellness expedites its delivery of care using eight private exam rooms and a procedure room for minor emergencies. Onsite services including computerized x-ray, lab testing, and EKG allow for quick point of care testing and rapid diagnosis. Adults and children will find comprehensive medical care services for conditions such as the common cold, flu, sprains/strains, cuts/scrapes, allergies, infections, physicals, and much more. Employers will also enjoy services such as pre-employment physicals, DOT physicals, spirometry, drug and alcohol testing, and treatment for work-related injuries. Most insurance plans will be accepted, and a competitive self-pay option is available for uninsured patients.

Xpress Wellness is based in Oklahoma City, led by Dr. Scott Williams, Chief Medical Officer, and Brian Hayden, President. Xpress Wellness currently has a total of ten locations in Kansas and Oklahoma.

Xpress Wellness Urgent Care coming to Liberal

By: Robert Pierce • Leader & Times
Liberal’s 15th Street just west of the intersection of Kansas Avenue has several medical care facilities for both physical and mental ailments.

Among those are Brookdale Liberal Springs, the new VA clinic, Southwest Guidance Center and Southwest Medical Center, all within a radius of about two blocks.

Now, another facility will soon be added to that mix, this time between SWGC and the VA clinic.

Xpress Wellness Urgent Care is proud to announce its expansion of world-class urgent care centers to the Liberal community. The new urgent care center will be located at 445 W. 15th Street and expects to begin seeing patients in Spring 2019.

Xpress Wellness Chief Medical Officer Dr. Scott Williams said the location was a good one that went with the demographics the company is looking for.

“It’s just one of the places that made sense, plus there’s a need,” Williams said.

“We work with a site selection group,” Xpress Wellness President Brian Hayden said. “They’ve got a few locations in Liberal. We drove up there, checked it out and decided that was the right location for us.”

Williams said most of Xpress Wellness’ clinics employ around 10 people.

“That’s kind of a round number,” he said. “That varies a little bit based on the volume and the need.”
Williams said Xpress Wellness is set up to be cost-efficient emergency services for non-life threatening injuries and illnesses.

“Anything life threatening will need to go into the emergency room,” he said. “We’re very supportive of local health care. We want to be part of the solution there and utilize whatever specialists are in the community. We try to keep things local as best we can. We utilize emergency rooms for emergency services. Local imaging such as CT and MRI, we use the hospital for. If there are any kind of labs we need to get on a rapid basis, we utilize them as well.”

With Xpress Wellness being open later in the evening and on weekends, Williams said this increases the access and availability of local medical care. He further explained some of the problems the local urgent care facility can do for patients.

“Almost all things that are non-emergency such as chest pains, which may be cardiac or severe breathing problems, which may be something different, or stroke symptoms, the majority of things that we do are illness and injuries,” he said. “We take care of minor lacerations and minor fractures as well as illness.”

Williams said the new Xpress Wellness facility in Liberal is part of an expansion the company has going in rural Kansas and neighboring Oklahoma.

Hayden said most insurances are accepted, including Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and Tri-Care, as well as most of the commercial payers and the government payers.

Hayden described the layout of the soon to be Liberal facility.

“We have five regular exam rooms,” he said. “We have a procedure room. We have an X-ray. We’re set up to do employer services like drug screens. We have restrooms set up specifically for that.”

Part of what brought Xpress Wellness to Liberal, Hayden said, is a nationwide trend of a lack of access to affordable high-quality health care.

“With the way we’re set up, we’re open seven days a week,” he said. “We’re 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1 to 7 p.m. on Sunday. We really open up that ability for people in the area to have access to high-quality affordable health care options. Urgent cares are walk-in clinics.”

Hayden said with a lack of access, particularly after regular business hours, many people choose to go to an emergency room.

“What we’re there for is to provide that access when patients need the help for non-life-threatening type situations,” he said. “We see that in communities all across Oklahoma and Kansas. There’s a big need for that.”

With people going to the ER, those facilities become bogged down with episodic situations, in addition to more minor cases.

“They have no other place to go,” Hayden said. “It’s 8 at night. Johnny’s running a fever. We don’t know what’s wrong with him. There you go.”

Overall, Hayden said what is happening in health care is patients need to be in the right place for the type of medical problem they have.

“Primary care practices tend to be more of a scheduled appointment in taking care of a lot of chronic type situations,” he said. “ERs need to be for those truly emergent situations. Then we’ve got the stuff in the middle. It’s episodic. It’s acute, but it’s not life threatening. That’s where we fit into the spectrum of health care. We’re part of that solution where people can’t get to the right place that they need to be at.”

Xpress Wellness was started with its first clinic in March 2014 and now has 10 clinics total, nine in Oklahoma and one in Kansas, with Liberal to be the second clinic in Kansas.

With just less than five years under its belt, Hayden said Xpress Wellness is expanding rapidly.

“We’re launching on our second wave of growth and expect to open a lot more clinics in Oklahoma and Kansas,” he said. “We have a site selection group, and they are aggressively out looking around both states and looking for where there’s access issues and opportunities.”

Hayden said he and Williams are excited about coming to Liberal.

“We’ve got bids out,” he said. “We’re getting ready to start construction. We look forward to being there and being of service to Liberal and the surrounding communities.”

Xpress Wellness Urgent Care expands to 10 clinics in 3 years

ENID, Okla. — Xpress Wellness Urgent Care began with an idea and a blank sheet of paper.

“Three years later we have 10 urgent care clinics and over 100 employees,” Xpress Wellness President Brian Hayden said. “I just think that’s a good small business story.”

Four partners own Xpress Wellness Urgent Care, which is a family-owned business, he said.

“We essentially formed our partnership, and created Xpress Wellness and opened our first clinic in March 2014, which was in Enid,” Hayden said.

Today, there are nine clinics in Oklahoma and one in Kansas.

“We still plan to continue to grow. The space that we’re in, we refer to it as on-demand health care, so we see ourselves continuing to build and develop more urgent care centers as well as getting into the field of telemedicine, where we can offer virtual health care visits,” he said.

Urgent care facilities are not required to have national accreditation, Hayden said.

“However, it was important to us to go down that path,” he said. “We pursued that and recently were awarded national accreditation through the Urgent Care Association of America. We’re the first urgent care entity in the state of Kansas as well as the state of Oklahoma to have that national accreditation from Urgent Care Association of America.”

One of the aspects that set the clinics apart is quality.

“All of our centers are ground-up construction, all new buildings. You see some urgent care centers go in and do a rehab on a building, an existing building, or maybe they go into a shopping center,” Hayden said. “When a patient comes to see us, one of the first things we hear from them is just how nice and clean the place is.”

Another aspect is the patient experience.

“We have a high degree of customer focus for patients. We try to have an environment that is friendly and compassionate all the way through. We also focus on striving to ensure that we’re providing quality health care services,” he said.

The facilities offer urgent care walk-in; employer services for physicals, drug screens and workers’ compensation injuries; some primary care services; and a plan to offer telemedicine.

Xpress Wellness Urgent Care building clinic in Chickasha, OK

After Arby’s moved to their new location, many questioned what would happen to the old building.

On Friday morning, work crews were knocking down the old building to make room for Xpress Wellness Urgent Care Center.

Kay Perry of Chickasha Community Development said the company has picked up building permits and is looking to make the building size of approximately 3,850 square feet.

According to Brian Hayden, president of Xpress Wellness Urgent Care Center, this will be the ninth location in the state of Oklahoma and is looking to help Grady County and the citizens of Chickasha.

“We hope to have a good response form Chickasha and the community,” Hayden said. “We will have online registration or they can walk into the center with no appointment necessary.”

Xpress Wellness Urgent Care starts building at old Arby’s location (in Chickasha, Oklahoma)

Hayden believes Chickasha is a prime spot for their Urgent Care Center after doing some research and pulling some data to help make the decision of coming to Chickasha.

The new clinic will have five exam rooms and a procedure room and will be open seven days a week and the target date of opening is currently set for the Summer of 2016 according to Hayden.

When Xpress Wellness Urgent Care Center opens, their hours will be Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and open on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Urgent Care Clinic To Open Today (via The Lawton Constitution)

Xpress Wellness Urgent Care will open its doors for business today. The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1-7 p.m. on Sunday and is located at 6744 NW Cache Road.

Xpress Wellness will offer services for acute type situations, such as strains, sprains, flus, colds and allergies, along with occupational medicine, sports physicals, drug testing, breath alcohol testing and workers compensation. There will be a full-time physician and nurse practitioner onsite.

Scott Williams, chief medical officer, and Brian Hayden, president, of Xpress Wellness have opened clinics in Enid, Elk City, Woodward, Weatherford, Shawnee, Muskogee and Sapulpa. Lawton's Xpress Wellness is the eighth clinic Williams and Hayden have opened in the last year and a half.

"We've done six in the last 11 months," Hayden said. "They're all like little children to us."

Williams and Hayden wanted to open Xpress Wellness because of the new changes in health care and to increase people's accessibility and availability to services. Xpress Wellness will take most all insurances including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Sooner Care and Tri Care.

When scoping out the next place to establish the next Xpress Wellness, Williams and Hayden liked the Lawton area and thought the clinic could benefit the city.

"It's a big community, and we just felt like there was an opportunity to be a service and a convenience to the folks in the Lawton area," Hayden said.

Health care at your call; Clinics fill a special need in Enid (via Enid News & Eagle)

ENID, Okla. — The urgent care clinics in Enid fill a special role between emergency rooms and primary care doctors.

At Xpress Wellness, President Brian Hayden said his facility is ready for patients in need of care for acute conditions.

“They may have difficulty reaching their primary physician. It might be a non-emergency situation that’s not really needed in the emergency room,” he said. “It’s walk-in care at the time you need it.”

What an urgent care doesn’t do is treat life-threatening emergencies or conditions that require long-term care.

“We handle what I would call acute care situations, like strains, sprains, lacerations, cold and flu. We’re not there for chronic case management, like diabetes and hypertension. That’s for their primary care physicians,” Hayden said.

At Xpress, like other urgent care clinics, medical professionals are staffed seven days per week and have extended hours outside the regular business day.
