What is Behavioral Health?
Many people confuse behavioral health and mental health, but the two concepts are distinct. While mental health describes emotional and psychological well-being, behavioral health refers to the way human behavior affects overall health and vice versa. Our behavioral health providers help patients through counseling online or in-person with everything from substance abuse to weight management to depression.
Oftentimes, behavioral health counseling and mental health counseling go hand-in-hand. Behavior affects thought processes and chemicals in the brain (mental health). Likewise, thoughts and brain chemistry (mental health) affect how people behave. Xpress Wellness focuses on behavioral health, but addressing mental health is a key component of our therapy treatments. Mental health counseling is valuable and integrated into behavioral health counseling sessions. We see patients across for virtual therapy sessions and in-person therapy at select locations.

Behavioral Health FAQs
Insurances accepted for behavioral health services include Aetna, BCBS, Centene-Oklahoma Complete Health, Cigna, Connect Benefit, HealthChoice, Humana, Medicare, SoonerCare, and Tricare. Please contact us if your insurance is not listed as we are actively contracting with more insurance plans for behavioral health services. In network services vary based on the type of service provided. When verifying benefits with your insurance company, please specify the type of service you are seeking (i.e. urgent care, behavioral health, etc).
No, our behavioral health services are primarily provided by telehealth services. We send a link to a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform so your session is from home and your privacy is protected. Ask us about availability if you prefer in-person services.
Effective 11/30/2024 Xpress will no longer offer virtual psychiatric medication management. We will continue to offer virtual counseling services to patients across Oklahoma and Kansas. For any questions, please contract our Behavioral Health team by calling 405-493-6455.
We will not share details of your visits with anyone without permission. If you have concerns please discuss with your provider.
No. We do not discuss the details of your visits with anyone unless you ask us to do so and/or have given us written permission to do so, with only certain exceptions, such as billing insurance or services provided to children. Employers may be informed of visits if you are requesting us to bill your employer for services, but will not be provided details. We will not inform an employer unless you direct us to do so. Please discuss any concerns about confidentiality with your provider at the initial visit.
While it is common to attend more than one therapy session, it isn’t required. Clients will receive the most benefit by working with their therapist to develop goals and complete these goals.
We offer a variety of professional counseling services. Counseling services are provided by licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, and doctorate level psychologists.
We have several behavioral health counselors available. If you know the provider or feel there is any conflict of interest or dual relationship concerns, we can assign you a different provider and you can request telehealth services with someone who does not live in your community.
The cost of therapy depends on your individual insurance plan. Xpress Wellness currently accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance and private pay. All payments, including your co-pay, coinsurance, and/or deductible, are due at the time of service. Xpress Wellness offers a discounted self-pay rate for behavioral health services of $135 for a 30-minute initial visit and $85 for follow-up visits. Cost may vary based on length of counseling session.
Insurance plans vary greatly. Please check with your specific insurance plan to determine exactly what they will cover. We can assist you in providing an estimate of what your insurance will cover if you need assistance. For other insurances not listed, we offer our discounted self-pay rates and you might be able to submit payments to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.
Yes. However, most insurance does not cover couples therapy unless the focus of therapy is about a specific diagnosis for one partner. For example, if one partner is diagnosed with depression and we are providing couples counseling to help the patient’s partner support the patient with this diagnosis then most insurance will cover that. If the focus of therapy is on the couple and the goal is to improve the relationship, then most insurances will not cover this. We can provide couples therapy using our discounted self-pay rates.
We accept all ages.
If you are under 18 years of age, we will need to have permission from a parent or legal guardian to provide therapy. There are a few exceptions to this rule which we can discuss with you before scheduling an appointment if this is a concern. If you are 18 or older you are considered an adult and we will not disclose any information to anyone without your direction and/or written consent. There are a few exceptions to this rule which we will discuss with you at your initial visit or can discuss before scheduling any services. Examples of exceptions would include billing information to insurance, suspicions of abuse or neglect to children or elderly or individuals with special needs, risk of harm to yourself or to others. We can discuss any concerns you may have about confidentiality before we schedule any services and that conversation can be anonymous, protecting your personal information.
Sessions are approximately 30 minutes.
We will mostly need to know specific information about the problem you are wanting us to help you with. What is the presenting problem, how long have you dealt with this or when did it start, how severe do you perceive the problem to be, how often does this problem affect you, how does it affect your ability to function in daily life. We will ask you other more general questions about your life experiences, such as any history of trauma, history and current substance use, family history and social history. However, if you are uncomfortable talking about any of these things you can always let your provider know you do not want to talk about things that are too sensitive or that you feel are not relevant.
No. Anyone can request services without getting a referral. Most insurance plans, such as a PPO, do not require referrals to pay for outpatient mental health services. Certain insurance plans, such as some HMO plans, do require a referral from your Primary Care Provider and/or a prior authorization to pay for services. If this is the case, we will inform you of this before we start services.
We try to accommodate schedules. Availability will be discussed during your initial visit.
Typically we are able to schedule your first appointment within 7 days.
Please schedule a time to chat with one of our appointment coordinators. We are typically able to schedule an initial counseling session within 14 days but this varies based on availability.
