When should I take my child to the emergency room?

  • Unexplained fever in children less than 6 months old
  • Your child has had a change in mental status (sleepy, disoriented, confused).
  • Your child has a cut that won’t stop bleeding.
  • Your child has a stiff neck along with a fever.
  • Your child has a rapid heartbeat that doesn’t slow down.
  • Your child accidentally ingests a poisonous substance or too much medication.
  • Your child has had more than minor head trauma

Some situations may seem alarming but don’t require a trip to the ER. Contact our clinic or your pediatrician if your child is experiencing these symptoms:

  • Ear pain
  • Pain in the abdomen
  • Headache that doesn’t go away
  • Rash
  • Mild wheezing
  • Persistent cough

Evaluation and Treatment of Minors

If an adult other than the parent or legal guardian brings a minor to be seen, Xpress Wellness requires written signed consent, by the parent or legal guardian, and photo identification prior to evaluation and treatment. Verbal authorization will not be accepted. The written consent will be stored in the individual minor’s chart and will be valid for 12 months from date of signature.
