Xpress Wellness' Response to COVID-19

Wellness in the Time of COVID-19

The onset of COVID-19 has changed the way many of us operate. At Xpress Wellness Urgent Care in Oklahoma and Kansas, one thing that has not changed is our commitment to the communities we serve.

As medical professionals, we signed up to take care of you even when that means putting our own health at risk. We want you to know we are taking every precaution as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to ensure the wellbeing of everyone that visits our clinics.  We have also adjusted our business hours to ensure lobbies are thoroughly sterilized, take the temperature of all our staff twice per day and where possible participate in social distancing while working our shifts.

Our main focus is keeping you, our patients, safe and reassured when you seek medical care. Like so many businesses in our communities, we are changing the way we work so we can devote more resources to the current medical needs around us. This is why we offer virtual and curbside visits – so that you can stay at home and still receive the care you need or remain in your vehicle for care while at our clinic, in order to further limit your exposure.

Local businesses and citizens have been so supportive of the medical professionals in our communities and for that we want to extend our deepest gratitude.

Thank you for trusting us to care for you and your loved ones.

Common Questions

Can I get tested for Coronavirus at Xpress Wellness Urgent Care?
Yes, Xpress Wellness Urgent Care is testing for Coronavirus at all locations. We offer 2 different types of Coronavirus tests: a Sofia rapid results test and and PCR test.

What is the difference between the Sofia rapid test and the PCR test?
Both the PCR and Sofia rapid tests are performed with a nasal swab to detect if you are actively infected with Covid-19. The PCR (nasal swab) test is a molecular test that detects genetic material from the virus. Your specimen will be sent to one of our partner labs. It generally takes 5-7 business days for results to be processed from the lab. One of our staff members will notify you by phone of your results when they are received.

The Sofia rapid test (nasal swab) is an antigen test that detects proteins from the virus; it is specifically looking for the presence of the SARS-CoV 2 antigen. An antigen is the part of an organism that causes the immune system to start a fight against the invading virus or bacteria. Antigen tests are very specific for the virus, but are not as sensitive as molecular tests. This means that a positive result is highly accurate, but a negative result does not rule out infection. The Sofia rapid antigen test results are provided by Xpress Wellness using the new Sofia 2 analyzer by Quidel which is FDA Emergency Use Authorization approved.

How do I know if I need to be tested for Coronavirus?
While there is room for clinician discernment, we generally follow CDC guidelines for testing.

How do you test for the Coronavirus?
PCR specimens are collected using a nasopharyngeal swab. Sofia rapid testing is done using a nasal swab, similar to how one would be tested for the flu. Antibody testing is done by taking a small blood sample.

What should I do if I need to be tested for Coronavirus?
To limit your wait time, we encourage you to check in online. When it is your appointment time, phone inside the clinic to let our staff know you have arrived. To limit added exposure for all patients, we ask that you wait inside the comfort of your vehicle. Our medical professionals will come outside to you, conduct an assessment, and provide curbside treatment.

When will I receive my Covid-19 test results?
For the Sofia rapid antigen test for Coronavirus, the results are available within 15 minutes or less, while you wait.

For PCR testing and antibody testing, your specimen will be sent to one of our partner labs. It generally takes 5-7 business days for results to be processed. One of our staff members will notify you by phone of your results when they are received.
